Job Description


The University of Missouri seeks a dynamic Career Center Director to support the university’s vision to help all students discover and develop meaningful career paths that enhance their lives and communities. The Career Center aims to empower students to engage in lifelong career development by encouraging purposeful experiences, personal reflection, and exploration of career information through the MU campus. This includes preparing students in the pursuit of their career path, provide education through campus resources, innovative practices, and management of career technologies. The Career Center also aims to connect students with employers who will provide students with a meaningful start to their vocational careers.

The MU Career Center Director will:

  • Direct the development and implementation of the strategic goals, vision, and mission of the MU Career Center
  • Supervise and manage administrative/professional and office support staff, including hiring, evaluating, training, disciplining as well as identifying professional development opportunities and leading continuous improvement
  • Restructure and develop the effective practices for long term growth of the Career Center
  • Develop and monitor annual operating budget, including special grants and contracts
  • Review and approve expenditures and maintain departmental operating budget
  • Build important on and off campus relationships such as other campus career professionals, academic department chairs, faculty, other administrators, employers, and external networks
  • Evaluate efficacy of center initiatives using data driven information
  • Work collaboratively with constituents from campus wide programs including outreach, training, work study employment, Alumni Center, etc.

The Successful Candidate will be a highly collaborative leader that embodies and communicates the Career Center’s vision and mission statement. The incumbent will have a proven track record of building and restructuring teams within the Career Center, communicating to various constituent groups regarding business standards, and multitask to meet the various needs of the Center. The incumbent will be highly influential in working with faculty, academic advisors, and advanced education. The Ideal candidate will be passionate about preparing all students for career mobility and supportive of career readiness.

The incumbent will have at least five years of experience in developing and administering institutional relations and career opportunity programming with employers, students, faculty, and staff as well as experience with fiscal development and management. Experience with administrative supervision of professional and office support staff and managing complex project development and implementation is also preferred.


Salary


Salary range- $74,057- $113,177

Minimum Qualifications


Master’s degree in student affairs administration, higher ed administration, business administration, or a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
