Summary:
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Materials and Production Planning is a key member of the operation’s team. This position will provide the strategic and tactical direction for Materials Planning, Master Scheduling, Shipping and Receiving, and Inventory Control. The Director will have complete oversight of all activities to ensure that shipped product meets sales forecasted goals by establishing solid and well thought out plans of execution. This position will coach and mentor team members to be successful, drive towards higher levels of performance, and to create a workplace that fosters continuous improvement. The Director will communicate with senior leadership on product line status, supply risks, critical path issues, and opportunities to mitigate risks affecting program performance. He or she will be a hands-on problem solver who is willing to get into the details and seek out opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities:

Interpret, manage, and report on key metrics through supplier delivery. Metrics include, on-time delivery, stock forecast, inventory turns, and cycle count accuracy.

Direct, lead, and develop a high performing team to support the growth of the business.

Empower direct reports to make decisions, act, and take the appropriate risks.

Work effectively in group settings through collaboration, developed solutions, and win-win philosophies.

Direct the overall planning process to include materials planning, excess and obsoletes, demand planning, and finished goods inventory.

Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis in material planning, forecasting, and production scheduling to level-load factory requirements.

Lead the production planning process through alignment with the MPS for labor, machine, and equipment capabilities.

Define an 18-month rolling demand and buy plan on assigned product lines which triggers production capacity and materials plans.

Drive strategies to improve material flow and availability.

Work closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics and Engineering to meet Operational requirements and long-term objectives.

Assess key inventory drivers and find opportunities to reduce cost while achieving sufficient supply to support target fill rates.

Manage the buy process for each product line from demand validation to buy proposal and establish safety stock levels to meet demand.

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 7-10 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Completion of a professional certificate program, such as university extended studies, APICS or ISM certification is highly preferred.

Demonstrated experience using ERP systems and MS Office applications. Experience in Infor XA is preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including v-lookups, pivot tables, logic formulas, and basic macros.

Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple and changing priorities.

Strong Analytical skills with a proven ability to solve complex problems.

Meets deadlines, prioritizes as required, deals well with change, and is composed under pressure
Ability to commute/relocate to El Segundo, CA 90245 before starting work (Required).
