The Role:
Catalina Island Company is looking for a qualified digital marketing manager to support the marketing team. The ideal candidate should have a passion for digital technologies and the ability to provide forward-thinking ideas to build and maintain a strong company web presence in an ever-changing digital landscape.
This role will work across a variety of digital marketing areas including search, content marketing, social media, display, retargeting and email to drive traffic to VisitCatalinaIsland.com. The ideal candidate will understand data analysis and optimization techniques and will be a true team player. Some technical background is required, as youll also be working in our booking engine (TravelClick), customer relationship management system (Inntopia), and email marketing program (Acoustic).
The candidate should be able to monitor social media on weekends.
This position is seated in Irvine, California, and will involve travel to Catalina Island via boat.
Responsibilities:
Website/Digital Marketing:
- Daily management of website and landing pages (Simpleview site); conduct regular audits content and images to ensure accuracy
- Continually monitor and suggest improvements for the usability, content and conversion points of the website
- Consolidate metrics and provide ongoing reporting and analytics
- Evaluate strategies to improve website sales conversions and customer engagement
- Optimize copy and landing pages for search engine optimization
- Build and implement keywords and ad copy for PPC (Google Ads); ensure proper optimization, bid management, keyword research and benchmarking of campaigns
- Execute emails in Acoustic email marketing program; track email performance and optimize emails for better engagement and performance
- Manage data in Inntopia CRM platform by targeting and segmentation
- Prepare and present detailed reports to team and executive committee
Social Media:
- Develop and implement paid social media strategy to align with overall marketing and business goals
- Creation and editing of written, video and photo content by attending and documenting ongoing operations and special events.
- Collaborate with marketing coordinator on organic social media campaigns to produce engaging social media content
- Identify, evaluate and select influencers to partner with outside of peak season
- Develop and curate content for various social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, etc.
- Monitor complaints, questions and comments from users across all social media accounts and Facebook Discussion Groups. Respond professionally and timely to guest inquiries/issues via email and online
- Prepare and present detailed reports to team and executive committee
- Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness (e.g. influencer visits, promotions, social partnerships, etc.)
Take on any other responsibilities that may arise in a versatile, fast-moving environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of digital marketing trends and industry best practices
- In depth understanding of web design and web analytics
- Desire to innovate and strategize new marketing opportunities

Education and/or Experience:
- Experience in tourism, travel or hospitality is highly preferred
- At least 5 years experience with SEO/SEM, marketing databases, email, paid social media and display advertising campaigns
- Solid knowledge Google Analytics platform and practices
- Basic knowledge of HTML
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related discipline
- This is based in Irvine, California with frequent travel to Catalina Island.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, push and pull on a regular basis.
