ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Digital Graphics and Electronics Technician at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Digital Graphics and Electronics Technician is responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical/electronic systems, computer systems and interactive art installations/components. This position applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and computer controls principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. The Digital Graphics and Electronics Technician provides skilled computer and electrical/electronic support to all areas of the facility.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Schedules, troubleshoots and repairs electrical/electronic equipment, including digital signage systems, interactive art, sound systems and other facility systems.
  • Accurately schedules digital signage and interactive art to achieve the desired results.
  • Utilizes graphic design software to create and/or modify digital images and videos to display properly on the correct displays throughout the facility.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and computer systems.
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Informs appropriate management and staff of potential problems, scheduling conflicts and potential impacts involved.
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions.
  • Performs technical troubleshooting to isolate issues at the component level.
  • Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to guests, as needed.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field.
  • Three to five years of proven experience in the electrical/electronic field.
  • Three years of computer experience/operation.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications Preferred
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Customer service knowledge, skills and attitude.
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PC issues and support desktops users.
  • Audio Visual equipment experience and professional presentation skills a plus.
  • Military veterans with electronics experience are encouraged to apply.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
