The Dean of Student Office at
Oberlin College and Conservatory invites applications for the Digital Content Coordinator, a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, continuing, Administrative and Professional Staff position in the Division of Student Affairs. The Digital Content Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Assistant to the Vice President/Dean of Students and works closely with the DOS (Dean of Students) Office Manager. This position also supports the Student Affairs Leadership Team in all areas of digital content development and deployment.
Responsibilities
The Digital Content Coordinator will coordinate the daily creation of content and management of social platforms, maintain the social editorial calendars, and produce compelling content that focuses on driving awareness, engagement and audience growth while promoting the student life experience at Oberlin College and Conservatory. We are looking for a candidate with superb written skills, an impeccable attention to detail and must have the ability to craft a strong social voice for all aspects of life at Oberlin that is authentic, elevated and relatable. A desirable candidate will be able to use creative thinking skills and strategies to be an essential part in driving the division’s digital narrative, enhancing the college’s image, improving digital communication, and encouraging the growth of student involvement through effective campaigns.
Essential Job Functions
- Deep understanding of all major social platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.), with the ability to best tailor the appropriate creative for the most effective results.
- Develop and maintain social editorial calendars, including copywriting, scheduling and posting.
- Act as a brand steward throughout all social content creation, working closely with Oberlin College and Conservatory Communications Department to ensure all representation is in line with brand guidelines and positioning.
- Source images and artwork, collate content, update online assets, streamline digital marketing production, and handle general digital marketing activities including production and editing of content.
- Support Oberlin College marketing-related campaigns to align with institutional goals.
- Monitor performance of campaigns against established KPIs and work closely with the Communications team to pull results and analyze data for optimization.
- Research peer institutions, industry trends and emerging technology.
- Live, real-time event coverage onsite when applicable.
- Work as a part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of the Dean of Students Office.
- Oversight of Student Affairs webpages.
Marginal Job Functions
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and important institutional events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in social media content creation with the ability to demonstrate relevant qualification or certification in digital media/marketing, communication or social media.
- Demonstrate ability to understand audience requirements and develop targeted and appropriate communication.
- Interest in promoting events, entertainment, and the Oberlin experience particularly in the way in which the lives of students are impacted.
- Versatile interpersonal skills and professionalism to work across multiple environments.
- Detail-oriented with a track record of managing multiple projects at once and delivering on time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously yet also able to sync accordingly with full cross-department planning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Goggle Docs and Social Analytics.

Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
