POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Dietary Aide at Stony Brook Hospital
Patients often compliment the Hospital on the excellent meals they receive while in the hospital. Dietary Aides are largely responsible for this.
Dietary Aides perform a variety of patient services that may include patient meal tray assembly, distribution and service, general sanitation, cleaning and use of kitchen equipment and pantries.
Salary: $19.26 to start. Effective 10/1/22 increase to $20.11. After one year, $21.11. Contractual increases thereafter.
1199 Union Position: Dietary Aides are employees of the Faculty Student Association. Health and retirement benefits are provided by the 1199 Union after completion of the probationary period.
Responsibilities:
· Assemble and deliver patient meal trays.
· Transport food carts and equipment in a safe manner throughout the hospital as required.
· Operate and clean equipment per departmental procedures.
· Safely transport garbage and recyclable material to assigned areas.
· Accurately portions and serve food for patients quickly, accurately, with minimum of waste and in accordance with departmental procedures.
· Accurately inventory and deliver par stock supplies to identified units and clean per departmental procedures.
· Complete food temperature control logs as per established protocol.
· Utilize equipment in performing job functions as per departmental safety procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Must fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
· Ability to read, write and follow basic instructions in English.
· High Diploma or equivalent is preferred
Requirements:
· Hours: Dietary Aide will work from 4:00 PM to 9:00. Employees must also be available to work both Saturday and Sunday and holidays.
· On a regular basis, Cafeteria Aides move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and push objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

Pay: $20.11 per hour
