Job description

Produce accurate joist placement plans and bills of material for use in fabricating open web steel joists.

Position Responsibilities:

· Creating steel joist placement plans and sections using AutoCAD.

· Provide customer contact to maintain detailing workflow.

· Prepare RFIs and coordinate project details with customers, steel detailers, engineers, and others.

· Generating and verifying bill of materials for shop construction

· Calculate joist and girder loading based on design loading provided on contract documents.

· Handle multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced, production driven environment.

· Meet schedules for assigned projects.

· Other duties as necessary

Experience/Requirements:

· The candidate must have advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word & Excel

· Excellent math, visualization, & problem-solving skills, able to read and interpret blueprints, good computer skills.

· Prior experience in detailing structural steel or Open Web Steel Joists and Joist Girders.

· Ability to visualize how elements fit together in 3D when working with 2D drawings.

· Willingness to go beyond typical duties to assist co-workers and customers.

· CAD related degrees and/or experience

· Prior structural and/or joist detailing experience

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Required Education and Experience:

1. Two-year associates degree or equivalent in drafting technology or related experience

4. Good mathematical skills
