Desktop Support Technician

Maintain and monitor end-user workstations and productivity on local area network. Perform a variety of maintenance, software installation, end-user support and training tasks to ensure end-user workstations and network performance meet company and user requirements. Provide support to staff on all company-supported applications. Troubleshoot computer problems, determine source, and advise on appropriate action. Complete application project-based work. Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies, and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers end-user workstations and supports end-user activities on a Microsoft Windows-based environment, with the Office365 application suite
  • Investigates user problems and identifies their source; determines possible solutions; tests and implements solutions
  • Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures memory & disk drives on laptops/desktops; supports printers and related equipment
  • Performs software and application installation and upgrades
  • Configures VPN/VDI client software for remote access and assists with Multi-Factor Authentication setup with end-users on Android and iPhone devices
  • Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
  • Performs setup configuration and updating of client system software and client system images (CloneZilla)
  • Tests critical patches and updates prior to broad deployment
  • Provides 1-on-1 training and instruction for system users on operating systems and other corporate applications; assists users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems
  • Assists personnel of other departments as a computer resource
  • Nice to have: Assist senior staff with the development of embedded SQL queries within Microsoft Excel and SSRS reports for various company departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in related field and 3-5 years of desktop support experience, or equivalent applicable work experience.
  • 1-2 years help desk experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.
  • Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks and related hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operations problems.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend and reach.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is primarily indoors. The position does not travel. Due to the hands-on nature of the position, the individual is required to be on-site 5 days per week.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
