Overview: Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports) is a leading professional sports company, with a collection of assets that includes: the New York Knicks (NBA) and the New York Rangers (NHL); two development league teams – the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL); and esports teams through Counter Logic Gaming, a leading North American esports organization, and Knicks Gaming, an NBA 2K League franchise. More information is available at www.msgsports.com. Role Summary: The Designer develops and maintains the visual identities of two iconic sports brands: the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers. From season brand campaigns to ticket sales efforts, this person is responsible for producing social graphics, digital OOH, direct mail pieces, posters, signage, apparel, merchandise, video supers and graphics, web banners, and email blast templates. Working with other designers and creatives, the Designer plays a key role in driving the MSG Sports in-house Creative group to consistently deliver outstanding work. Specific Functions/Activities Summary:
Concepts and executes breakthrough, best-in-class design solutions.- Handles assignments from the point of receiving a creative brief through to completion.
- Collaborates with other departments—Social, Marketing Strategy, Ticket Sales, Marketing Partnerships, and Fan Engagement—to hone creative assets, often presenting creative work.
- Concepts content and activations for brand initiatives throughout the year, like Season Launch, Playoffs, Draft, All Star, Theme Nights, NBA Summer League, Hockey Week In New York to name a few
- Quality-assures MSGS internal assets and works to maintain an organized active and archive drive of projects and files.
- Works to identify opportunities to develop and implement design systems and templates in order to maximize efficiency
- Works with the Motion Graphics team to develop arresting visuals and ensure that visual identity is cohesive across all platforms.
- Creates press-ready mechanical files and works directly with the printer to ensure high-quality results including accurate color, content, and materials.
- Proven branding design experience
- Advanced skills in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Knowledge in and passion for print design, digital design, branding, and typography
- Strong analytical skills, conceptual skills, and ability to brainstorm
- Keen attention to detail
- Excels at working in a team environment while also being able to work independently
- Confident presentation skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects at once while sticking to deadlines
