Position Overview

In this role as our Design/ Drafter you will be responsible for creating/developing detailed engineered designs and drawings that satisfy customer design requirements, industry specifications, and company standards.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have completed an accredited 2 year CAD degree / program and have 2-5 years of CAD experience in a metal fabrication environment. Other combinations of formal training and experience will be considered. Experience using SolidWorks, Driveworks, or similar 3D modeling application is required.

Essential Job Functions

The job duties listed below are the fundamental job duties of this position. Failure to perform any one of these duties would substantially alter the nature of the position.

• Review work order requirements to extract design & drafting requirements.
• Create detailed drawings and bill of materials utilizing computer aided drafting applications.
• Design component through finished goods parts based on written customer specifications, while incorporating company manufacturing capabilities.
• Leverage company library of engineering drawings to create new designs that meet customer requirements.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure that work products (drawings) accurately reflect customer requirements, meet company quality requirements, and follow company standards.
• Regular and on-time attendance for full scheduled work shift
• Maintain a favorable working relationship with coworkers to promote a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
• Participate and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements

• Create structures in 2-3 hours

Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Responsibilities

• Intermediate user in Solidworks, Driveworks, or similar 3D CAD application
• Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings
• Proficient knowledge of various metal fabrication machines, engineering practices, mathematics, and materials
• Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications
• Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within that align with company standards
• Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork
• Effective and appropriate oral and written communication skills, including legible handwriting in English
• Work with others as part of a high performance team
• Adapt to changing work priorities
• Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures
• Follow standard MMC and customer specified procedures and practices
• Accept and apply on the job training to advance your skill level
