· Be sure to flush out water lines and cavitron water line for 3minutes before your first patient.

· After your patient is seated, you should go over their medical record, make appropriate changes and be sure to have the patient sign the complete form.

· Let the patient know you will be taking x-rays today (if due) and take the x-rays needed. Do not ask permission. If you get push back be sure to explain the reason why it is important to have them. When the patient is adamant and still refuses you need to tell the doctor and let him handle it. Be sure to notate EVERYTHING in the chart and charge out the appropriate codes.

· All patients should have intra-oral images taken at each visit.

· Be sure to ask them if they are having any problems before you take the x-rays and if they are having a particular problem you should take a PA of that area for the doctor to check.

· Complete prophy, oral exam, peri charting (if needed). Either before or during the prophy you should be educating the patient on their oral health, possible problems and your recommendations.
