POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Day Porter will work to maintain a clean, orderly and safe facility for members, guests and staff. The Day Porter is responsible for ensuring the YMCA will be recognized by the community as a safe, clean, well maintained facility. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

LOCATIONS:
Day Porters are needed at the following YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit Locations:

• Birmingham Family YMCA
• Boll Family YMCA
• Carls Family YMCA
• Farmington Family YMCA
• Macomb Family YMCA
• South Oakland Family YMCA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for daily housekeeping and janitorial duties
• Survey building for safety at all times
• Monitor building cleanliness
• Work in a team atmosphere
• Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Work cooperatively with professional staff, coworkers, and other departments.
• Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or its equivalency is required
• Possess good human relations skills
• Sound judgment and problem solving skills
• Proficiency in decision-making
• Able to lift 15 pounds as needed
