Impact is hiring a SQL Database Administrator for our Nationally ranked Best and Brightest Workplace!
The role of the Database Administrator (DBA) is intended for customer service focused individuals with a vast knowledge of database administration and business processes that may relate to those databases. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.
The DBA will manage and monitor all databases that the company utilizes, some of which are industry specific for the ERP, CRM. The DBA will be involved in generating reports and BI that are requested from the company. They will work closely with the Business Systems Integrators to get more potential interaction with the ERP and CRM to the employee’s hands in a manner that will foster success.
Here at Impact the DBA position is a unique opportunity for an individual with prior experience seeking new challenges and broad database administration responsibility. The successful candidate will be directly accountable for the following duties: monitoring, maintaining, operational support of our entire portfolio of databases. This individual will maintain availability, reliability, stability, and data integrity of the databases on a day-to-day basis. They will provide support in the administration, backup, integrity, and security of the environment. They will also be responsible for creating and executing database tasks from software upgrades and custom interfaces, to troubleshooting while continually assessing, improving, and optimizing our current database environment.
Responsibilities
Plan and Build
- Validate current architecture across all databases against best practices
- Build database systems in a Hybrid IaaS environment focusing on high availability, speed of transactions and failures rates
- Create and modify current and newly requested crystal reports for better information management across all departments
- Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
- Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards
- Work with Merger and Acquisition team to merge or separate data in a timely fashion
- Follow Third Party vendor processes to maintain and upgrade ERP and CRM systems and Applications
- Engineer and Design BI systems that are relatable for the company’s success
- Architecting and Tuning Monitoring Systems across the various levels of transactions
- Understanding and documenting back-end data flow via application-level connectors
Run and Maintain
- Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
- Tuning monitor database for optimal performance via implementing changes and apply new patches and versions when required. Leveraging various third-party technologies
- Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
- Monitor and analyze SQL views and processes that may be running slow and adjust for optimal system performance
- Controlling access permissions and privileges
- Plan and execute software upgrades in relation to ERP and CRM systems
Business Continuity Planning
- Develop, maintain, and test back-up and recovery plans for databases
- Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
- Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
- Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
- Capacity planning for the future, creating business cases for Plan / Build activities
Things We Are Looking For
- Proven work experience as a Database administrator operating in a DEV/OPS capacity
- Technologies in the environment; Hybrid IaaS, Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Kubernetes, Cosmo DB
- Adheres to ITIL Change Management Best Practice
- Collaborates across various functional business units + technical teams
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting SQL Server Failover cluster instances
- Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
- Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL
- Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding
- Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools
- Extensive Crystal Reports knowledge and experience
- Power BI Development, Familiarity with Business Intelligence Applications for Dashboard purposes
- Familiarity with programming languages API
- PowerShell, VBScript, or JavaScript programming background
Education and Certifications
- BS degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate Certification (AZ/DP-900 Requested)
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate Certification (AZ-104 Preferred)
- Microsoft MCSA (SQL 2008 or newer Database Administration or Development)
- Microsoft MCSE (Data Management and Analytics)
