Who you are:
You are one who will review and assess content, products and various services for Trellis Research Team, Community Investment Division. You enjoy conducting survey research, write reviews, and assist on various research projects. This position is an intern position, working part-time (10 to 25 hours weekly). We are seeking a graduate student for employment for 3 to 9 months, with the potential for transitioning into a full-time position.

The position is remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The position incumbent is expected to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities of the position with reasonable accommodation.
  • Conduct literature reviews on various topics that supports the research team and prepares Trellis for new strategic initiatives.
  • Works with research staff to determine the content of departmental publications.
  • Supports the development of research briefs.
  • Lead survey research analysis projects.
  • Consults with research team on research methodology.
  • Assists the research team on for-fee projects which might include qualitative coding of interviews or open-ended questions, customizing a survey to meet client needs, interacting with clients, writing sections of reports, or building tables for analyses.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours.
  • Supports other functions and responsibilities of the department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communication and writing skills.
  • Analytical and quantitative/qualitative research skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to college student success and financial challenges.
  • Good time management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of higher education public policy.

Qualifications:
Education
Required :
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in public policy or social sciences (e.g., public administration, government, economics, sociology, or psychology).

Preferred:
  • Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in public policy or social sciences is preferred.

Experience
Required
  • One (1) year of working with student success research or one year of research in another social science or policy area.
  • Two (2) years of data reporting (i.e., written analysis; table and graph creation; and verbal presentations to management).
  • Four (4) years of recent experience in college access, financial education/counseling or college advisement.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Occasionally must move about when working inside the office.
  • Repetitive motion. Regularly operates a computer, phone, and general office equipment.
  • Regularly required to handle, feel, grasp objects, and reach across a work area.
  • Regularly communicates with other employees and on the phone, virtually, or in person with clients. Regularly converses with internal and external contacts.
  • Visual acuity. Regularly must have close visual acuity to view and enter information into computer and software systems, analyze data, develop presentations and reports, and other materials.
  • Mental focus. Requires worker to maintain focus and exchange detailed and accurate information through oral and written communication.

Work Environment:
  • Work may be conducted remotely or in an office with a small cubicle environment.
  • Office work environment is climate controlled with no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
