We are looking for a Data Scientist to help grow onsemi’s Data Science capabilities within the sales organization. This is an opportunity to impact a growing, $8B+ enterprise that recognizes the need to leverage modern data technologies and methods to help solve critical business problems. You will join the business analytics team under sales operations, a team responsible for advanced analytics, and work with corporate Data Science CoE (Center of Excellence) on all kinds of data science topics.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Advises business leaders by providing data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities
- Engage with stakeholders, conduct in-depth interviews to understand and define business problems
- Own all phases of the Data Science life cycle: problem definition, exploratory and descriptive analysis, model creation, model validation and deployment
o Query, clean and combine datasets
o Work with IT or Data Engineer to add data into data warehouse if not available
o Explore datasets and make observations
o Feature engineering and model selection
o Model tuning and model validation
o Deployment using cloud services
o Monitoring performance and drift
- Build dashboards in Qlik or Tableau to help visualize the results and/or diagnose issues
- Present the results to multiple levels of the organization including higher management and nontechnical stakeholders in a simple and easy-to-understand format
- Improve risk analysis simulations using existing predictive models and Monte Carlo simulations
- Collaborate with corporate Data Science Center of Excellence to adopt and share best practices
- Demonstrate strong business acumen, understand business priorities, and seek continuous improvement
This position is Hybrid/Remote/Open to several locations primarily in Phoenix, AZ and Sunnyvale, CA.
Bachelor’s degree in data science, business analytics, engineering, artificial intelligence, information systems, applied/traditional statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field
- Advanced degree (master) preferred
- Experience with data frames, pandas and data cleansing in Python or similar languages like R or PySpark
- Experience with basic SQL queries to retrieve data from relational databases
- Strong knowledge and experience on modeling techniques like linear regression, logistic regression, decision trees
- Knowledge on probability distributions and risk analysis simulation techniques like Monte Carlo
- Knowledge on optimization, predictive models, data clustering/classification
- Experience with BI tool like Tableau or Qlik
- Experience with cloud-based data services: Snowflake, Microsoft Azure (Azure ML, Databricks), AWS
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively, and quickly adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally, share knowledge and experience with others, and influence others
