GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Data Analyst I position is an entry level position and requires learning the AG data sources, product hierarchy, and retailer attributes in order to complete POS analysis, ad-hoc analysis, and reporting using programming, mathematical and category management techniques. This function also requires learning basic business processes and developing working relationships with the Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and Insights & Analytics teams. Under the direction of the Manager or a Master/Senior analyst, the analyst will develop standard reporting and data analysis from a number of data sources, including Point-of-Sale, shipments, product footage, and other internal and 3rd party software and database systems (e.g. Retailer Loyalty Card Data Portals, IRI, Kantar Retail, etc.).



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities for the corporate data sources/structures, analytical tools/software packages, and business functions.
  • Data management of third-party POS and customer data including validations, UPC transmissions, and process maintenance
  • Under direction of the Manager or a Master/Senior analyst, runs standard and ad-hoc analytical processes and reporting
  • With guidance, works on small projects and tasks to build basic proficiencies in data analysis/mining as well as understanding and interpreting results using analytical tools (Cognos, SAS, R, EXCEL, IRI, retailer loyal card data portals, etc.).
  • Works with external and internal partners to develop a fact-based analysis
  • Develops a working knowledge of third party data sources.
  • With guidance, develops presentation decks that are used by business teams
  • Communicates analysis and insights effectively to internal and external clients, verbally and in writing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Length & Type of Experience:
  • This is an entry level position. Some experience with Summer internship and/or graduate assistant related work in a quantitative area is helpful but not required.
 Some familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word or similar software
 Familiarity with SAS, R, SQL, or a similar large database application is helpful.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
Quantitative skills and the ability to apply statistical/data analysis techniques.
 Programming skills including R, Python, SQL, SAS etc
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
 Accuracy and attention to detail
 Self starter and self motivated
 Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, statistics, operations research, applied math, or other quantitative discipline.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in above disciplines.
