Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Data Analyst/BI Developer to join our team. This opportunity involves working with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, planners, and scientists to develop BI solutions for a wide array of water-related projects across the Midwest and nationwide. The position will focus on collaborating with our financial planning services group to leverage and enhance Hazen’s existing rate modeling capabilities. Rate modeling is an important service offered by Hazen to our clients, to help utilities understand whether their rates are adequate to cover their cost of service and projected future expenses and recommend solutions as-required. This position will also work with our utility management solutions group to develop data visualizations, dashboards and provide data analysis on a wide-range of projects.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team and will have the technical, organizational, and communication skills to:
- Lead the implementation of BI solutions for rate modeling projects
- Execute hands-on development of the ETL processes, data models, measures, and visualizations necessary to build reliable dashboards for client's internal and external
- Maintain rate modeling templates and develop enhancements to meet project needs
- Develop protocols, technical documentation, and training materials
- Assess client needs/issues and strategize approaches/solutions
- Support project teams with BI solutions for a variety of projects, including water/wastewater treatment, asset management, and conveyance projects.
Minimum requirements for this position include:
- BS in STEM, plus MS or demonstrated BI experience
- Working familiarity with critical elements of the Microsoft BI stack (e.g. Power Query, Power BI)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are expected
The ideal candidate will also have one or more of the following:
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, R), SQL, and software development methodologies
- Familiarity with statistics, machine learning, and advanced data analytics
- Familiarity with water quality and/or water/wastewater treatment processes and/or water utility financing
- Familiarity with UI and graphical design
