JOB TITLE: Dairy Transportation Planner
POSITION TYPE: Full time
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
Regular business hours
Dairy Logistics opportunity including inventory management, customer relations, purchasing/selling of products, and transportation planning for production process milk, milk components and related products in accordance with company policies and procedures.

- Managing the supply and movement of all front-end products (milk, skim, cream, NFDM, whey, WPC, perm), ensuring fulfillment of customer orders and meeting internal production needs.
- Participating in purchases and sales of milk and other products, tracking that terms are met and adhered to.
- Communicating with Foremost personnel, customers, and suppliers to provide timely responses to questions, implement changes, and resolve issues.
- Making on-the-spot decisions, with limited information available, to achieve the best outcome.
- Using the ERP system to create and manage requisitions, sales and purchase orders.
- Coordinating with 3rd party transportation companies on product movement and federal order milk qualifying while minimizing transportation costs.
- Regularly responding outside of normal working hours (evenings & weekends) to changes in day-to-day milk movement, emergency situations, transportation issues, manufacturing plant downtime or customer changes/inquiries.
- This position will be on-call and will be part of a regular on call rotation for weekend coverage, providing dairy logistic services required to maintain internal and customer 24/7 operations.
- Providing back-up coverage for other department team members to cover absences and distribution of workload.
- Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace, or the ability to work remotely.
- Timely and accurate completion of duties.
- Occasional travel for work, up to 33% of the time.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

- Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and other documentation. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, vendors, and others. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization. Requires excellent telephone skills.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to correctly add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to correctly compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in non-standardized situations.
- Other Skills & Abilities: Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines. The ability to drive a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work Environment – Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne participles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Protective Equipment – Protective equipment may be required based on the job being performed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
This position requires an associate degree in logistics or related field of study, or some college coursework and three to five years of job-related experience. The preferred education and experience is a bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field of study, knowledge related to the job and three to five years of job-related experience.
