California is the number 1 dairy state with 20% of the dairy cows and the majority of the cows are located in the Central Valley. Just one county, Tulare County, has as many cows as many cows as any major dairy state, with the exception of Wisconsin and New York.

We are proud to have the most modern and state of the art cattle research facilities in the USA. We also work commercial dairy farms and calf raising operationsranging in size from 1,000 to 100,000 animals.

Job Summary

Innovative dairy cattle consulting, research, laboratory and training firm based in Tulare, California is looking to hire graduates with a bachelor / master’s in animal science or veterinarians. The job includes the implementation of calf raising monitoring programs at commercial dairy farms / calf ranches, training of dairy farm workers and managers, as well as implementation (or management) of research projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

Consulting:

• Implementation of calf management monitoring programs at commercial dairy farms / calf ranches.
• Design work organization materials including task identification, activity flow, standard operating procedures and efficiency forms.
• Monitor health, performance and management using farm and lab generated data.

Training:

• Teaching of science-based educational programs to dairy workers to expand their knowledge, skills and attitudes so they improve their lives while enhancing the profitability and sustainability of the dairy farm.
• Courses include lectures, method demonstration, hands-on workshops, and case studies using workers’ jobsites examples.

Research:

• Trial implementation (or management depending on candidate).
• Development of data collection forms, entry of data into forms and records maintenance, and database building and management.

Qualifications and Skills

· Master’s in animal science / DVM.

• Be able to communicate and connect with dairy farm personnel and be persistent to drive change.
• Intellectual curiosity with an interest in research.
• Strong work ethics and attention to detail with a commitment to provide quality results in a timely fashion.
• Highly motivated self-driven professional willing to welcome challenge and overcome adversity with a positive attitude.
• Willingness to work overtime, nights or weekends depending on workload demands.
• Languages: English and Spanish.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Power-Point).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
