JOB SUMMARY:

  • Coordinates scheduling, pre-registration, order entry, tracking and scanning of all services incorporated into the Patient Welcome Cell.
  • Ensures insurance pre-authorization and pre-certification are complete.
  • The individual will receive and transmit patient information from external and internal sources.
  • Individual will continually work in conjunction with our patients, providers and staff to provide prompt quality service in a friendly, professional atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrates the ability to schedule appropriate appointments based on physicians?? orders, enter order into ITS, Track and scan paper orders from outside providers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to verify patient?s insurance eligibility, and prior authorization requirements; including that services have been approved prior to scheduling appointments when necessary.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accurately pre-register patients in Meditech.
  • Demonstrates appropriate phone etiquette when interacting with patients, customers, co-workers, and other departments within the organization by maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Associate is capable of delivering required care/service appropriate to patients/customers.
  • Assumes responsibility for the scheduling, pre-registration, order entry and order tracking/scanning of all scheduled procedures assigned to the Patient Welcome Cell.
  • Communication
  • Verbally communicates directions, answers to questions, etc., in a timely manner to patients, families, visitors, physicians, staff members, and other departments.
  • Applies good guest relation techniques to telephone conversations
  • Communicates pertinent patient information clearly, accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner to designated persons.
  • Directs concerns to appropriate persons within time frames suitable to the situation.
  • Makes suggestions to solve patient care or department problems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to correctly use telephone system to place callers on hold, transfer calls, etc.
  • Develops and maintains collegial relationships with physician office staffs.
  • Displays and maintains behavior which promotes good guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers

  • Assumes expanded responsibility at the request of the Team Leader or designee after necessary orientation/education.
  • Attends in-service presentations as assigned.

  • Assists with orientation and training of new staff especially with computer skills.
  • Initiates and owns other assignments as special needs arise.
  • Participates in departmental meetings/activities
