Salary range for this position is: $36,414/yr. - $43,848/yr. (depending on experience)

As a campus custodial and/or grounds person, you will be responsible for being a key member of the team that maintains the highest level of sanitation and pristine appearances in order to help make Seattle Central College a welcoming place to teach and learn.

Custodial Services contributes to the success of the college by providing a clean and safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors while maintaining facilities at the highest standard possible, to ensure that teaching and learning occur in a safe and sanitary environment. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

Please note that Seattle Colleges has moved to remote operations, pending public health guidance. What you will be working on:

  • Clean various public areas on the campus

  • Clean and disinfect showers, restrooms, sinks, toilets

  • Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hard floors

  • Empty trash, and recycling containers

  • Set up for events and furniture moving

  • Clean carpets with shampooer and extractor

  • Remove graffiti

  • Shovel snow and ice from walkways, steps, and entryways

  • Move furniture, equipment and supplies as require

  • Clean Chalk trays, blackboards, and whiteboards

  • Clean elevators and elevator tracks

  • Perform any custodial related work as assigned by lead, Supervisor and Manager

  • As directed by management:

  • Repair and/or replace various items including doors, hardware, windows, locks, gutters, benches, tables, desks, chairs, cabinets, light fixtures, switches, etc.

  • Paintssmall offices, kitchens, classrooms, etc.

  • Make rounds, locking doors, closing windows, turning off lights and replacing burned out light bulbs; turns air conditioning and other equipment on and off

  • Maintain inventories and make simple reports; requisitions supplies and equipment;¿¿

  • Improve work methods, knowledge of equipment, supplies and safety through participation in training sessions with supervisors.

  • Position will require cleaning and disposal of potential blood borne pathogens and Other Potentially Infectious Material.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking English

  • One (1) or more years of custodial maintenance experience

  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer to complete timesheets and other employment-related tasks

  • Valid Washington State Driver License with a driving record that will not inhibit from being insured

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
