Job description
- Performs minor maintenance, such as painting, carpentry and electrical work, as required.
- Assist in-house mechanic and custodian-mechanic, as required.
- Wet and dry mop floors, vacuum rugs, dust and polish furniture, lockers, and special equipment.
- Clean all glass surfaces and windows in interior of building.
- Wash walls, furniture, toilet fixtures, partitions and other equipment.
- Replace lavatory supplies.
- Replace burned out light bulbs, dispose of waste paper and rubbish.
- Assists in the kitchen with lifting and cleanup.
- Distributes supplies to teachers.
- Sets up and cleans areas before and after school activities.
- Performs related duties as assigned by the head custodian or shift supervisor.
- Sweeps sidewalk areas, picks up debris from the grounds, shovels snow, and sands sidewalks as required.
- Prune, fertilize and replant bushes and shrubs as needed.
- Weeds flower and shrub beds and rakes leaves.
- Oils motors, checks equipment, paints walls and partitions both inside and outside the building.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Able to work outdoors year round in all weather conditions
- Able to stand, crouch, bend and climb ladders
- Able to push heavy objects, including, but not limited to, carts and equipment
- Able to perform various types of manual labor
- Able to operate power equipment including, but not limited to snow blower, buffers, backpack vacuum, auto scrubber, leaf blower, power washer, etc.
