Job Title: Custodian Supervisor
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Director
FLSA Status: Exempt – 12 month position
Salary Grade: 7B ($37,835-$44,450-$51,085)/year
Approved Date: 7/1/2022

SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of custodians engaged in cleaning all interior physical structures of buildings by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. *Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labre Indian School's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

1. Directs custodians engaged in cleaning all buildings. Inspects completed work for
conformance to standards.
2. Maintains attendance records, timecards, payroll, and other personnel records.
3. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of crew.
4. Assures security of all buildings by locking all doors every evening.
5. Inventories and requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
6. Repairs or replaces cleaning equipment.
7. Maintains MSDS sheet and books.
8. Prepares and monitors budget.
9. Notifies appropriate maintenance staff in regards to repair any major maintenance problems.
10. Maintains working relationships with directors, supervisors/managers, director of school and principals by conducting “Expectation Meetings” and walk throughs.
11. Schedules cleaning and floor work.
12. Ensures that cleaning service has been provided to all department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises staff of 12 custodians. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and three to five years related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervisory experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Respects the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in private, personal, and public life.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church in Native American education.
  • Sensitivity to, and appreciation of Native American people and their cultures.
  • Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for students.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Montana driver's license.
