About the Position

Under general supervision of the Crisis Services Manager, provide crisis hotline services and face-to-face crisis intervention, emotional support, advocacy, referral resources, and accompaniment services to victims of interpersonal violence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Arrive prepared to take hotline calls and provide accompaniment services at the start of the shift.
  • Must have and maintain reliable cell phone service.
  • Provide education regarding the dynamics of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking to victims and callers on the hotline.
  • Provide education on reporting options, protective orders, and the effects of trauma on victims face to face and callers on the hotline.
  • Provide crisis intervention counseling, and advocacy services, including safety planning and suicidal assessments, face to face and victims and callers on the hotline.
  • Coordinate and provide crisis services to victims of crime, including PERK exams, hospital accompaniment, legal accompaniment, emergency shelter, emergency transportation, and immediate safety planning.
  • Provide information and community referrals as requested.
  • Collect statistical data and other information needed for grant reporting.
  • Enter client information and referrals accurately into Electronic Case Management (ECM) system, VADATA and iCarol system.
  • Submit complete shift at the end of the shift as directed.
  • Complete and submit documentation and case notes of accompaniments at the end of the shift as directed.
  • Maintain client confidentiality by the YWCA SHR’s Confidentiality policy.
  • Maintain client case records by the policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to the YWCA SHR’s Mandated Reporter policy in collaboration with law enforcement, and forensic and medical personnel.
  • Participate in on-going training and education regarding interpersonal violence, community resources, and medical personnel.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled throughout the year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum sixty (60) hours of college credits, with course work in psychology, social work, human services or social work field required; and or four years of related experience
  • Experience and skill working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault preferred
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities, mental health concerns, and chronic homelessness preferred

Other Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must complete the training program of the YWCA SHR
  • Must complete a background check

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of the dynamics of sexual assault and domestic violence
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities, mental health concerns, and chronic homelessness
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a calm and supportive demeanor at all times

WORKING CONDITIONS: Weekday shifts. Weekly hours vary, not to exceed 29 hours per week.

o Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds

o Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

o The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud

o Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier and fax machine

COMPENSATION

This is a part-time, hourly position, with the pay range of $14 per hour. Weekly hours vary, not to exceed 29 hours per week.
