Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Investigates crashes using cutting edge techniques.
- Works with police and insurance to obtain access to crashed vehicles; measures and documents vehicle damage using Total Station and field investigation protocols.
- Downloads vehicle event data recorder.
- Locates, measures, and documents crash scenes; reconstructs crashes using computer software.
- Develops written summaries of crashes dynamics and occupant kinematics that are consistent with field evidence.
- Records crash information in an online database.
- Leads discussions and analysis of crash data during internal meetings.
- Conducts outreach activities targeted at police and EMS.
- Coordinates with local and state police agencies to identify training opportunities and needs that align with team expertise.
- Presents at conferences or technical meetings on research results and crash investigation techniques.
- Trains staff in field crash investigation techniques as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED and five years of experience as a crash investigator for a federal crash investigation program, OR a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a scientific program and five years of experience as a field crash investigator.
- Must be certified in crash data retrieval.
