Job description
PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAMS:
All programs at BHS adhere to the philosophy of:
A. The Comprehensive, Continuous, and Integrated System of Care (CCISC) Model
In order to provide more welcoming, accessible, integrated, continuous, and comprehensive services to individuals with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders, BHS has agreed to adopt the CCISC. This model is based on “best practice” principles (Minkoff, 1998), which adopts an integrated clinical treatment philosophy that makes sense from the perspective of both the mental health system and the substance disorder treatment system.
B. The Role Recovery Model
The model, an emerging best practice, defined recovery as a personal process of overcoming the negative impact of a psychiatric disability and stigma despite their continued presence. The ultimate goals for individuals in the recovery process are to reach optimal functioning, to develop hope within a secure base and senses of self, to ring meaning to their lives with empowerment, supportive relationships and full social inclusion.
C. Trauma Informed Care Initiative
BHS promotes an environment characterized by safety from physical harm and re-
traumatization with an understanding of clients and their symptoms in the context of
their life experiences and history, cultures, and their society, always with a view of
trauma as a defining and organizing experience that forms the core of an individual’s
identity rather than a single discrete event.
D. Integrated Health Solutions
BHS promotes the integration of primary and behavioral health services to better address the needs of individuals with mental health and substance use conditions, whether seen in specialty behavioral health or primary care provider settings. The systematic coordination of primary and behavioral health care services produces the best outcomes and proves the most effective approach to caring for people with multiple healthcare needs
