Position Summary:

The Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing position is responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

The primary responsibility of the Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing of The Catering Outfit is to develop existing business and solicit new catering business through catering lead generation, specifically corporate.

Other important duties include but are not limited to planning and coordinating client events while assuring the highest level of customer service, managing company’s website and social media outlets, actively seek out marketing opportunities through local events and partnerships, generating revenue, design advertising campaigns, manage marketing budget, and establishing new accounts. Managing and assign all incoming leads from website and online listings, booking repeat business while keeping the quality of our service and product consistently high. Creating and maintaining positive relationships with local event venues, vendors, advertisers, and industry professionals also falls under the purview of the Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing

Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with Owner, Operations Director, Chef, Sales Director, Banquet & Operations Manager and staff to ensure flawlessly executed and memorable functions, including serving as Event Manager on day of events as needed and as approved by Owner.
  • Responsible for planning and confirming setup, menus, bar packages, beverages, labor, and all other event details for each booked event (or inherited event)
  • Responsible for providing accurate, detailed Banquet Event Orders and Invoices to both clients and internal departments.
  • Meet and exceed budgeted sales goals by upselling groups whenever possible
  • Manage and attend events as needed to ensure execution is as planned.
  • Responsible for finalising billing accuracy, timeliness and reviewing with client so that everything is clear and agreed upon by both parties.
  • Develop sales force activities to generate catering sales.
  • Manage and assign catering sales leads, while maintaining a catering sales lead log.
  • Ensure details for each owned event, account, and contact(s) is accurate and complete in Tripleseat.
  • Create and manage rental orders for each booked (or inherited) event on behalf of client. Update and maintain client’s rental needs based on menu, event details, and client’s expectations.
  • Conduct walkthroughs with client.
  • Collect all deposits as outlined in booking agreements, and final estimated balance due from clients 5 business days prior to their event.
  • Attend weekly FOH and BEO
  • Create requested SOP’s.
  • Review final invoices for accuracy and send to clients within 48 hours of event conclusion.
  • Develop and continuously improve FOH policies, service standards, staff training, procedures and quality standards alongside the Executive Management team, ensuring a high quality, cost effective and customer focused operation.
  • Work with Event Managers to organize and assign all event activities of banquet personnel on day of event(s)
  • Schedule and execute menu tastings, client meetings, & site walk-throughs.
  • Meet and exceed company wide sales goals
  • Assign catering sales leads to appropriate manager. Ensure all inquiries are responded to within 24 hours.
  • Prepare proposals and contracts utilizing the Catering Outfit’s products as outlined in Tripleseat.
  • Working directly with owner to create custom menus when client’s needs fall outside of the Catering Outfit’s core product line.
  • Follow up with each client after events for guest satisfaction and send notes to each thanking them for their business.
  • Develop and execute sales promotions & mailings
  • Assist in establishing and adjusting food/beverage/labor/rental pricing by monitoring costs, competition, etc.
  • Solicit previous clients to inquire about possible future bookings.
  • Attend trade shows and bridal events (CCWEP, Corporate associations and events)
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with event venues, community members, industry partners, local farms and wineries.
  • Assist Owner as requested on additional business ventures and products.

Requirements: the individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job

  • Strong working knowledge of off-site catering sales, food trends, wine pairing, social media trends, wedding trends, and banquet operations.
  • Enthusiastic passion for food, wine, beverage, and weddings.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop associates. Ability to work together as a team with all members of Management and event staff while promoting a positive work environment, and a positive team atmosphere with all staff members.
  • Uphold a professional demeanor within the office, at events and professional affairs.
  • Ensure a professional attitude and proper business attire when working an event and in the office - ready to meet or service a client at any time.
  • Ability to manage staff of different ages, backgrounds, abilities, and experience.
  • Maintain a “Can Do Attitude” service standard

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask and handle a heavy workload
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of: Website Design and Managing, Social Media Marketing, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Tripleseat and/or Caterease, Google Docs, Google Sheet and/or Excel, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Microsoft Publisher.
  • Intermediate photography skills and knowledge.
