Job Description

The Armed Services YMCA is looking for a Grant & Corporate Relations Manager who will play a key role in the organization’s new 5-year strategic plan. With record high inflation and continuing tensions in Eastern Europe, the stress of military service is being acutely felt by service members and their families. As the organization poises itself for exponential growth in both reach and impact, it needs a dynamic development professional to secure funding and partnerships that fund mission-critical activities and raise the profile of the organization. Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the Grant & Corporate Relations Manager will help build a powerful case for support that compels and convinces potential partners to fund the organization’s mission.

The right candidate will be both detail-oriented and a creative out-of-the-box thinker; likes both numbers and words; is both patient and persistent; is both competitive and collaborative; and most importantly, genuinely cares about the cause.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Undergraduate Degree (BA, BS) with emphasis in marketing, communications or other related field or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business writing, proposal writing, grant writing, account management, cause marketing, fundraising, sales, or client services. Nonprofit experience highly preferred.
  • Highly proactive and autonomous, with experience meeting deadlines and balancing competing priorities.
  • Skilled at written and oral communications – specifically able to draft proposals and responses to questions using clear, concise, and compelling prose.
  • Strong proficiency with computer applications including, Office 365, Windows based programs, CRM databases and project management tools like Monday.com.
  • Ability to learn new technology
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in collaborative groups
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills (requires diplomacy, tact and a clear, courteous and professional manner)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Experience using relevant software applications, including database management, graphics, spreadsheets, calendaring and word processing; DonorPerfect & MS-Office preferred.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies, cultivates and solicits partnerships with corporations and institutional funders at the local and national levels and develop trusted relationships with a portfolio of partners.
  • Works alongside the C-suite, Board of Directors, and other team members to build and expand the organization’s corporate and institutional funder pipeline.
  • Diplomatically “manages” C-suite executives and board members to secure warm introductions to potential funders and makes sure leads are follow up on
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing/Communications and Program teams to ensure partnership/funding deliverables are on track to meet funder’s desired outcome metrics.
  • Work alongside Finance Department to build proposal budgets, complete sponsorship/grant reporting, and track sponsorship/grant invoicing and payment.
  • Work cross-functionally with the other departments and branch entities to:
    • Solicit information about programs and projects as they are developed
    • Evaluate current programs for funding potential and recommend new initiatives based on known interests of funders
    • Seek out new funding possibilities to establish institutional priorities and areas where collaborative efforts will advance the ASYMCA towards achievement of its goals
    • Collect program metrics and analyze budgets to ensure accurate reporting and alignment in fundraising priorities
  • Maintains current prospect and partner records in CRM tool while providing accurate and timely reporting – including revenue and expense forecasts.
  • Maintains online project management tool to ensure g
  • Prepare briefing documents for executives attending current and prospective sponsor or funder meetings
  • Develops impactful presentations and proposals for corporate partnership opportunities and other philanthropic funding.
  • Travels to meet with existing partners / solicit new partners while serving as a positive ambassador for the organization.
  • Anticipate the needs of executive leadership, providing real-time updates on revenue and relevant changes to partners.
  • Manage the rhythm of business for all proposals, impact reports, and revenue tracking
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Armed Services YMCA Chief Development Officer.

Grant Management

  • Research and find new institutional funding opportunities.
  • Maintain and communicate deadlines for grant submissions, drafting grant applications, routing for approval with appropriate internal audiences and submitting to funders in a timely manner.
  • Prepare interim and final written and financial/grant reports to include budgets and impact/outreach measures

Corporate Relations

  • Manage the personalized communication strategies with and the fulfillment of customized sponsorship benefits and reporting requirements for all funders
    • Oversee the creation of sponsorship recognition signage
    • Coordinate cross-departmentally on fulfillment of program and marketing deliverables
