The Corporate Controller will function as a hands-on business leader working with the senior management team to implement and execute financial and operational strategies. The Controller will take responsibility for the monitoring, analysis and management of mill/facility cost structure and product costs, building strong partnerships with departments to optimize Company cost and financial performance, leading and developing the accounting team, safeguarding company assets and ensuring the accuracy to the company’s financial statements. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills and solid business acumen.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
  • Work closely with mill operation leadership team and lead mill controllers to identity and drive corporate cost initiatives to achieve financial and operational targets.
  • Lead mill monthly financial reporting, forecasting, annual operation plan (AOP) and performance improvement initiatives reporting and tracking.
  • Provide overall leadership to the plant accounting team on cost management, cost initiative reporting and tracking and KPI scorecard development.
  • Work with mill and corporate peers to drive continuous improvement of costs, processes, and systems, and ensure consistency and standardization of the costing methods across the company.
  • Oversee the accounting operations of mills, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for timely preparation of financial statements, including month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing for management accounts submission to Parent company
  • Responsible for maintaining chart of accounts, reviewing all period end journal entries and general ledger reconciliations necessary to produce correct consolidated financial statements
  • Take full ownership of the creation and maintenance of companywide accounting policies and procedures, including internal control. Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations and legal requirements as it relates to accounting functions.
  • Work directly with accounting/audit firm and do research necessary to ensure reports are prepared/presented in accordance with GAAP.
  • Partner with IT on accounting process creation and improvement
  • Prepare schedules as requested for compilation of corporate income tax returns.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management, or related.
  • Ideal candidate should have at least 15 years of finance/accounting experience in manufacturing preferred
  • MBA, CPA, and/or CMA certification desired.
  • Strong hand-on working knowledge on activity-based accounting and willing to rollup sleeves and deep dive into details to identify issues/opportunities for improvement
  • Able to convert financial analysis into meaningful operational recommendations and drive action and process improvement
  • Extremely detail-oriented tasks involving general ledger classification and reconciliation, and proper financial statement preparation.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep understanding of ERP systems, SAP experience preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • 25% travel required
