POSITION SUMMARY

The Accountant performs basic accounting functions to maintain an accurate general ledger and certain administrative functions across several Strategic Business Units of the company.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Ensures accounting records and transactions are accurate, comply with company policy and have supporting documentation
  • Performs treasury duties, including
    • Reconciliation of bank accounts
    • Initiation / approval of ACH and wire transfers through bank portals
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reconciles balance sheet general ledger accounts, including
    • PPE, prepaids, other assets, accruals, other liabilities
    • Fixed assets
  • Cap Ex
    • Assists with cap ex transactions, including purchases, transfers, disposals and annual asset verifications
    • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Month-end and year-end close
    • Assists with the preparation of journal entries
    • Instrumental in the continual improvement of accounting processes
  • Assists with tax functions, including
    • Sales and use and other local tax compliance and tax audits
  • Assists with the management of employee expenses, including
    • Maintaining company credit cards and limits
    • Reconciling the Certify expense system
    • Assisting with the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Assists with Fleet management, including
    • Fuel cards
    • Vehicle R&M
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including administrative functions


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Advanced Excel skills including vlookups and pivot tables
  • Proven experience in a very fast-paced accounting department environment
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • BS degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years accounting experience
  • Computer skills required: ERP Software; Microsoft Office Suite


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements for this position are typical for a sedentary office environment including considerable time spent in a stationary position, at a desk using a computer terminal and keyboard. Movement about the office and standing are required occasionally.
