Do you have a desire to create events benefitting a university community focused on educating and advancing communities of discovery to foster a healthier society? University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial, creative event planner to serve as our University Events Coordinator. This role is responsible for developing the University's event strategy and all aspects of implementing and executing that strategy to engage a variety of audiences including alumni, donors, faculty, staff, prospective and current students and the community. The University events manager uses their creative talents and expertise to ensure that events are of high quality, maximizing campus spaces and generating revenue. In addition, this position serves as principal planner for University events, lead salesperson and coordinator for external contracts, and advises and supports internal departmental event planning including supporting summer programming.

In this role, you will get to:

  • Be responsible planning and executing University events (such as commencement) and external contracted event planning (such as meetings and key summer camps).
  • Coordinate with internal constituents to ensure their successful event and meeting execution, including supporting planning, advising on strategy, collaborating with internal University staff and resources. Manage University space software and approvals system.
  • Develop overall campus event strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Manage any event office staff, including student workers. Collaborate with support staff, advancement staff, and key leaders on campus.

To succeed in this role, you will need:
Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, business or other related relevant field. Significant event planning experience with an associate degree considered in lieu of bachelors degree.
  • 2-4 years professional experience, with at least one year of professional event planning experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong relationship building skills, flexibility and ability to collaborate. Ability to work with internal and external groups and constituencies; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events as required
  • Must have personal transportation and a valid drivers license

Preferred qualifications:

  • Masters degree in communications, marketing, business or related relevant field
  • Experience working in an academic institution or a nonprofit organization
  • Two to three years professional event planning experience (corporate or University events)
  • Experience with event contract development, negotiation, sales and business development skills
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Experience working with volunteers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
