Position Summary:
Candidate is responsible for all general accounting and financial reporting functions for multiple business units and for RMD corporate (collectively the “venues”). He or she is responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that venue assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies and US GAAP.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist venue management with annual budget preparation and analysis.
  • Review and enter all venue invoices, ensuring proper allocation per venue chart of accounts.
  • Prepare and distribute venue checks or electronic payments weekly or as required.
  • Prepare all venue invoices to customers as required and ensure timely collection.
  • Maintain all venue general ledgers and financial statements. Final close of all venue financial statements to be completed monthly, no later than 15 days after the month end.
  • Prepare monthly P&L and other financial statements and reports as needed, including budget vs actual reporting and analysis. Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management.
  • Prepare and submit all venue annual information forms and other regulatory filings as required.
  • Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all venues. At times, this may include involvement in due diligence and other pro forma analysis, projections and other activities surrounding acquisitions/dispositions.
  • Provide accounting and financial support to new venue openings, including preparation and maintenance of construction and pre opening budgets.
  • Ensure the completion of all Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes), insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation.
  • Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the venue financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.
  • Work with venue tax professionals in the timely completion of all annual venue income tax returns and venue member K-1s.
  • Ensure that the accounting and finance department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting all objectives and responsibilities. Responsible for continued development of these associates.
  • Support monthly inventory process as needed to help insure accuracy and control.
  • Conduct Random Petty Cash audits for all venue safes (any discrepancies get replaced through payroll from all managers that have access to safe) and report results.
  • Conduct POS Deposit vs. Deposit Detail audits (from automated reports) and report results.
  • Conduct nightly drop audits to ensure accuracy (performed with a second count when doing the weekly deposit) and report results.
  • Ensure Petty Cash Receipts and bank statements are reconciled weekly.
  • Perform ATM audits and report results.
  • Perform other accounting and financial work and ad hoc tasks as assigned by the venue GM’s or RMD partners or their assignees.
  • Evaluate current tools and templates for budgeting and other analysis and make recommendations for improvements and or alternative methods.
  • Create new analytical tools upon request
  • Monitor and evaluate technology related advances in accounting and financial systems and make recommendations for any changes that would enhance efficiency, accuracy or cost to venues.
  • Take leadership role in any software of other technology implementations for venues.
  • Interface with 3rd party professionals as required, including insurance brokers, legal counsel, payroll providers and others.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the primary duties, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by management based upon the particular requirements of the venues.

  • Assimilate into RMD’s culture through understanding, supporting and participating in RMD activities.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the venue’s service standards and operational policies and procedures.
  • Attend mandatory meetings including divisional meetings, staff meetings, etc.
  • Participate in community events and help to ensure corporate social responsibility goals of RMD are met.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Ensure confidential documents are kept in a secured area and confidential information is not shared with any unauthorized persons.
  • When disposing confidential documents that contain any personally identifiable information, they must be shredded or pulverized.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by venue management.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire venue team members to meet and exceed standards.
  • Ensure that all staff follows and are in compliance with RMD’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years prior bookkeeping experience required, preferably in a multi-unit environment.
  • Experience in the nightclub, bar or restaurant industries is required.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Must have proficient computer experience and knowledge in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and QuickBooks.
  • Experience and knowledge of automated systems such as Kitchen Sync or other restaurant or hospitality software systems.

Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Finance

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • CPA certification preferred

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely and properly
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability
  • Requires visual acuity
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the venues
