Community Health Network of Connecticut, Inc. (CHNCT) is currently seeking a Contracts Analyst.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Administration/ Enterprise Project Manager, the Contract Analyst reviews and analyzes contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations and organizational policies and procedures prior to signing.
  • Recommends and negotiates terms for a variety of contract provisions including but not limited to legal and business terms.
  • Evaluates the potential level of risk that a contract may pose to the organization.
  • Creates language standards, templates and rules for existing and new contracts.
  • Manages the contract escalation process, as needed.
  • Serves as a resource for internal parties during the contract development and negotiation stages.
  • Acts as a liaison with legal counsel pertaining to contract language review.
  • Coordinates with and explains contract details and obligations to internal departments.
  • Interfaces with vendors and colleagues to resolve contractual discrepancies in contract terms.
  • Helps to identify process flow changes related to agreements and makes recommendations for appropriate implementation of those changes.

Tasks Performed:

  • Keeps current with regulatory, accreditation/certification and state contract requirements to ensure contracts satisfy CHNCT compliance obligations.
  • Documents the contract process and maintains current and complete documentation for all agreements.
  • Manages the contract process through its lifecycle from initial template stage to fully negotiated contract.
  • Effectively communicates the importance and intent of all required terms and conditions to stakeholders.
  • Reviews incoming and outgoing contracts for accuracy.
  • Recommends solutions for contractual disputes or issues.
  • Assists in the maintenance and tracking of all executed agreements.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides expertise and guidance for contract related activities necessary to meet the goals of the organization.
  • Discusses the scope of the contract provisions with management.
  • Reviews agreements and pullout pertinent data and contract provisions.
  • Serves as a resource for contract analysis for all departments and works directly with those departments to manage problem resolution and ensure availability of accurate and timely information.
  • Monitors contract performance to determine the need for amendments or extension of agreements and compliance with contractual obligations.

Desired Education: Two to four years post-secondary schooling

Desired Degree: Bachelor’s Degree

Desired Major: Business Law, Business Administration, or a related field

Desired Job Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in contracting.

Other Qualifications: Experience in developing, negotiating, and managing contracts. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexible and adaptable with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and manage multiple projects concurrently. Able to work independently on complex issues and perform research and analysis. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
