Construction Laborer/ Carpentry (COLORADO)
Job description
We are currently looking to fill an all-around handyman and maintenance person for minor carpentry, metal framing, drywall patches, finishing, painting, casework repair, floor repair, and other items that may need attention.
This position applies advanced knowledge of all commercial construction interior finishing. Repair drywall and perform professional finishing of drywall inside a variety of buildings by applying mud, taping and sanding the surfaces, skimming the walls, and professionally preparing the panels for painting or other finishing techniques including acrovyn, other wall protection, and covebase. Candidate must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan, and perform work activities independently with guidance from project supervision and/or owner representation. This position may require other carpentry and finish work that may include but not limited to painting, framing, containment construction, demolition, wall protection, flooring, coverbase, casework, install accessories, cleaning, pressure washing, concrete finish and other necessary task as presented during the course of a project.
Responsibilities
- Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans if necessary on job.
- Reads blueprints to determine measurements and quantities of material and labor resources.
- Able to accurately comply with the instructions and requests provided by onsite supervisor or senior role.
- Utilizes math to calculate measurements required to construct facilities.
- Determines elevations and layout through the use of builder levels, transits, lasers, etc.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required per site supervision (typically scheduled working hours for this position are Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, working hours may vary depending on jobsite and weekend work may be required on some jobs).
- Demolition / Breakdown of existing structures (drywall, studs, flooring, electric, plumbing, etc.)
- The unloading, handling, stockpiling, and erecting of all pre-fabricated materials.
- Carpentry work including frame, in wall and roof blocking, and finish carpentry.
- Candidate is independently responsible for the complete drywall finishing process including: mixing, carrying and applying mud on drywall; taping seams to reinforce the drywall and hide imperfections; applying compound to joints; covering nail/screw depressions with compound; and beading, sanding to produce a smooth surface for finishing with paint or paper.
- Candidate must be knowledgeable about special wall treatments and may be required to apply a variety of textured surfaces to walls and ceiling with trowels, brushes, or spray guns.
- Ability and knowledge to apply Level 5 finish consistently required.
- Build decks, stairs, roofs and other temporary structures between office units, plan tables, install shelves, setup tool trailers and/or conexs, per plan.
- Paint prep, cutting, and rolling of new and existing structures.
- Acoustical Ceiling works.
- Candidate maintains an organized, safe, and clean work space and also protects surfaces, trimmings, fixture and windows, etc. as he/she works through and completes the drywall work.
- Candidate is also responsible for putting tools and equipment back in its proper place, and returning any unused items at the end of a project.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- ICC Drywall Certification, ideal but not required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 4+ years’ experience in commercial construction, previous experience on commercial job sites, mission critical construction, and hospital construction strongly preferred.
- Passion for construction and our industry; ability to recognize and seek quality.
- Constant standing, walking, reaching, crawling, balancing, and grasping.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, climbing, stooping/crouching, and kneeling.
- Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds of material and heavier material with assistance, if requested.
- All aspects of vision are required – acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.
- Ability to talk and hear is very important for communication with supervisor and co-workers on safety and operational matters.
- Working during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site.
- Willingness to travel local and nationwide 25%+, not required but preferred.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol test.
- Ability to pass background check.
- Legal authorization to work in U.S.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Speak Spanish and English, ideal but not required.
Potential Work Environment and Awareness
- The work environment is not always well-lighted, heated, air-conditioned indoor production setting with adequate ventilation, and moderate noise.
- On occasion, the employee can be exposed to some air contamination (dust, paint fumes, smoke, disagreeable odors, airborne particles, etc.) and toxic or caustic chemicals in the work environment.
- Frequently, the employee will work above ground level where the possibility of falling exists.
