Seeking a Construction Community Liaison that will work closely with New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) on a pier substructure rehabilitation project on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The Liaison will keep all Interested Parties informed of the current Project status and assist in keeping the local community informed of the same. The Liaison shall identify those disruptive construction techniques that would have a negative impact on the local community, and where feasible, shall recommend construction techniques that are less disruptive. The Liaison’s project manager shall keep NYCEDC up to date on potentially disruptive construction techniques so that appropriate measures may be planned and taken. The Liaison shall be available to assist NYCEDC in keeping the local communities and Agencies informed of the status of the Project and in preparing graphics, reports, and presentations to interested groups as may be required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of Construction Community Liaison experience in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to be involved with the community and understand issues or concerns.
  • Experience in managing public relations, schedules, and community meetings.
  • Proven excellence with public interactions and must have strong communication and problem resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful project zone.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the company as a liaison between the local communities, stakeholders, and agencies to ensure the progress of the project by communicating any concerns.
  • Maintain a record of the minutes for all Community Board (CB), Task Force, Progress and any other meetings attended and send a copy to attendees.
  • Establish and maintain a Neighborhood Notifications and open lines of communication.
  • Ensure email distribution lists are established and the public information tool is used for the purpose of creating effective communication.
  • Document the project progress with photos and include the photos in the monthly newsletter.
  • Maintain a daily log of Community Outreach efforts and activities, which include meetings, attended coordination of Services and/or disseminated outreach materials.
  • Track and follow-up on all complaints and send weekly complaint summaries, bi-monthly newsletters, and any other pertinent material to the agency for review.
  • Address any anticipated complaints, record the complaints whether open or resolved, and report the complaint and actions taken to the Resident Engineer and the agency.
  • Assist in the distribution and posting of notices and shall secure translations of notices/flyers.
  • Develop, maintain, and keep a calendar of significant community events including ethnic/religious festivals, street fairs, marathons, parades, play street closing and block parties and/or celebrations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
