POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are seeking highly motivated contract Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technologists to support cables design on a major secure transportation program for the US Government.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Contribute towards innovative cables design solutions.
• Create mechanical or electrical design using a variety of tools and modeling software.
• Take responsibility for the creation and configuration management of detailed drawings, layouts, and illustrations.
• Plan, lay out, draw, and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts and design definition.
• Complete details of major layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices.
• Engage on a cross-discipline team to achieve delivery of the fully functional final development build trailer and the eventual First Production Unit (FPU) and to meet program deliverable commitments.
• Engage with production agency counterparts for design transition-to-production planning and readiness. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite

• CAD certificate, or associate degree, or other associate degree in technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in AutoCAD.
• Experience in cable design or layout.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

• Hardware product development lifecycle.
• System interconnects architecture definition/implementation.
• Mature problem-solving, collaboration skills, and an ability to take broad direction and execute technical and programmatic features of the program without detailed guidance or supervision.
• A strong dedication to a positive teaming environment, strong written and verbal skills, detail-oriented approach, and a keen focus on customer service.
• Active DOE L or Q security clearance, or equivalent.

This position requires on-site work and is contingent on ability to gain site access to the Laboratory.
