Job description
The primary responsibility of the compressor operator is to safely ensure that the company's coalbed methane compressors are operating properly.
JD
- Gas compressor operators work in the field and follow a schedule provided by production supervisors to operate compressor engines, dehydration equipment, meters, gauges, recording instrument charts and auxiliary equipment in a way that allows for the appropriate flow of gas.
- They must drive to each compressor and check the mechanical components for malfunctions to ensure operations are working properly, and gas pipelines are not blocked or leaking.
- They must be able to perform a variety of tasks using hand tools. These tasks include working with gas/electric motors, greasing compressor components, checking gas quality, and changing belts, batteries, filters, etc.
- Compressor operators must look for operational anomalies and record readings in an operating log.
- They must follow environmental rules and report spills and prevent shutdowns from equipment failure.
- Must be able to follow specific instructions while maintaining acceptable established standards of work performance and conduct, show necessary and consistent energy, as well as acceptable mental and physical dexterity, for the satisfactory completion of the essential duties as defined.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
