Summary
The Transportation Planning Division is seeking a motivated and organized self-starter to fill the role of Complete Streets Specialist. This position is responsible for managing and expanding the Town’s Vision Zero initiative, implementing the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan and developing an education and outreach campaign.

The Town adopted a Vision Zero Resolution in October 2021 and has a goal of eliminating deaths and serious injuries on our roadways by 2031.

Essential Functions

• Implement the goals and objectives in the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan
• Use GIS to create databases and maps to support pedestrian safety and other Town initiatives
• Prepare agendas, facilitate effective committee and task force meetings, and plan engaging activities and field trips for the members
• Explore and implement policy, programmatic, and infrastructure improvements to support Vision Zero
• Plan and execute public education and outreach activities
• Submit quarterly grant reporting and monthly invoicing, manage program budget
• Collaborate with Town departments on pedestrian safety initiatives
• Attend Transportation Planning meetings, and other meetings as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

Completed a BA/BS in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, GIS, Geography or a related degree;

• Masters degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, GIS, Geography or related discipline preferred.
• Experience in ArcGIS is required, and proficiency with MS Office and Adobe products (including Illustrator and InDesign) is strongly preferred.

Supplemental Information
This is a grant funded, temporary position. The candidate is expected to work up to 950 hours in a 12-month period, averaging around 20 hours a week. It is expected, but not guaranteed, that the grant will continue past September 2023.

Physical Demands:
Work is generally performed while sitting or standing at a desk with intermittent stooping. An incumbent in this position might also be required to lift light objects occasionally.

OTHER NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
A valid driver's license or access to occasional personal transportation is required for this position for off-site meetings or field work.

Pay: $21.00 per hour
