Shift: Full time, Days, Every other weekend


Reporting to the Director of Resource Hospital EMS and Resuscitation departments serves as the Community Training Center (CTC) Coordinator and functions as a liaison with the American Heart Association (AHA) to ensure compliance with standards as defined in the AHA Program Administration Manual. Coordinates, oversees and evaluates all Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) programs and outcomes. Ensures program standards meet organizational, AHA, and regulatory guidelines.

1. Provides the day-to-day management of the CTC, and ensures that NCH maintains status as an American Heart Association Training Center for all levels of AHA certifications. Serves as the principal resource of information, support, and quality/process improvement for all NCH CTC operations.

2. Collaborates with leaders to complete needs assessments for AHA ECC programs based on job description requirements, renewal cycles, and historical reference. Using that data to inform planning, ensures accurate scheduling and posting of classes, facilitates student registrations into the right courses based on capped instructor-to-student ratios and candidate level of course need. Ensures the quality of the Emergency Cardiac Care courses conducted by the CTC, our aligned instructors, and off-campus Training Sites.

3. Handles the storage, and retrieval of Training Center databases, educational materials, student rosters, faculty, and student records. Is responsible for registering students when coming onsite for skills labs/testing, the accurate assignment of AHA ECC course links, the accurate creation, security, and distribution of course completion e-cards and the security and confidentiality of AHA exams to instructors and Training Sites.

4. Oversees all AHA CPR, ACLS, and PALS programs using CDC standards for disease precautions and prevention, and general principles of adult education. Is responsible for ensuring that all programs are conducted in compliance with AHA standards. Ensures that all candidates are assessed and measured per AHA requirements and ensures that only qualified candidates pass and receive an e-card verifying successful course completion. Makes modifications as needed and approved by the Department Director in alignment with standards and resources to meet learner and/or stakeholder needs.

5. Provides instructors and Training Sites with consistent and timely communication of any new or updated information about National, Regional, or Training Center policies, procedures, course content, teaching standards, or course administration that could potentially affect an instructor while carrying out his or her responsibilities.

6. Selects and oversees the onboarding and credentialing of all BLS, ACLS and PALS instructors and instructor trainers. Evaluates on-going competency and effectiveness of faculty and coaches, as necessary, to ensure compliance with program standards while optimizing participant learning and stewardship of fiscal and human resources.

7. Assures all resuscitation program equipment and materials meet standards. Sets up equipment for skills stations, maintains equipment in safe and good working order, cleans equipment before and after each lab and restocks inventory following the psychomotor labs.

8. Assists in developing and monitoring the annual program budget to ensure cost effective and value-added programming and effective utilization of training resources. Processes purchase orders and payment requests for CTC supplies, equipment, expenses, and faculty reimbursements.

9. Participates on hospital and community committees to assure resuscitative programs and services are effectively integrated into the organization systems and standards of care. Collaborates with stakeholders to develop programs to meet resuscitative learning needs.

10. Adheres to all Northwest Community Healthcare standards, policies, and procedures.


Qualifications


1. Level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree required. Current license as a Paramedic or RN preferred

2. A minimum 2 years’ experience as a BLS instructor preferred.

3. Demonstrated understanding of all AHA ECC Programs.

4. Highly proficient with Microsoft office suite.

5. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

6. American Heart Association BLS Instructor –Trainer certification within 18 months of hire.

7. Interpersonal, collaborative, service-focused and team affirming skills necessary to interact and communicate effectively with various levels of hospital, CTC affiliate, and AHA personnel.

8. Analytical skills necessary to assess the educational needs of staff and affiliate educators, develop educational programs, and evaluate educator’s performance.

9. Written and verbal communication skills necessary to deliver quality educational programs and create and distribute factual, accurate, complete and timely correspondence related to the CTC.

10. Organizational and attention to detail skills necessary to coordinate and accurately plan, prioritize, organize, implement and evaluate large volumes of work and all programs and initiatives of the CTC.

11. Must be present on site at NCH Monday through Friday on the day shift. On days with classes scheduled, must arrive early enough to set up equipment, register attendees, and be prepared to start classes on time. Occasional evening or weekend classes may require an alternate shift assignment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Moderate physical effort is required. May require frequent periods of standing, kneeling and walking. Requires frequent lifting of or moving of moderate to heavy weight material.
2. The flow of work and character of duties involves normal mental and visual attention.
