WHAT’S THE ROLE? Under the immediate supervision of the Senior Community Services Supervisor, this position is responsible to plan, develop, administer, and evaluate a variety of City recreation and community services program activities in an assigned area of responsibility including daily operation of facility rentals at the Chino Hills Community Center and the McCoy Equestrian and Recreation Center. Community Services Coordinators will directly supervise part-time facility staff.

Our Recreation staff plays an important role in our service to the Chino Hills community. Recreation staff must be responsible, safety minded, friendly, and have a great customer service attitude!

JOB FUNCTIONS: The incumbent must have the ability to:
Plan, organize, and coordinate daily facility operations assigned and other recreation programs as assigned.

Evaluate facility needs and develop an effective operation plan; develop procedures within areas of responsibility and instruction materials to assist in accomplishing program goals.

Train staff and volunteers in work procedures and requirements.

Market recreation facilities and programs as assigned.

Prepare and submit budget requests for assigned facilities and programs; monitor assigned expenditures; and manage facility contracts.

Interpret and explain pertinent City and department policies and procedures.

Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend or take effective course of action.

Schedule and train part-time staff in facility operations and customer service to patrons at the recreation counters, as well as by phone and email.

Prepare a variety of reports and maintain records and files.

Promote and enforce safe work practices and ensure facility and equipment safety.

Work day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as programs require.

Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests in a courteous manner.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including staff and the public.

Maintain physical condition, audio-visual discrimination and perception, and mental capacity appropriate to the working conditions and the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and effective communication.
