Role: Community Philanthropy Manager, Direct Response
Reports to: Director of Community Philanthropy
Location: This role will be remote in the continental US, Alaska, or Hawaii
Hours: Full time
Salary: $80,000-$85,000/year
Overview of the role
The Community Philanthropy Manager (CPM), Direct Response is responsible for providing direction and operational support for The Trevor Project’s annual integrated direct/digital fundraising campaign strategy as well as serving as the point of contact for the organization’s fundraising agency of record. You will have primary responsibility for the implementation of all integrated direct/digital fundraising plans and have oversight and project management responsibility for all direct & digital appeals. You’ll work closely with the Individual Philanthropy, Development Operations, and the Marketing, Communications & Content Teams - ensuring alignment with organizational messages, supporting donor data management, and executing complex fundraising campaigns.
Who You Are
- Community-Centric Fundraiser. You employ fundraising strategies that are grounded in equity and center community. You have a demonstrated knowledge of fundraising best practices, and have a proven track record as a successful fundraiser working with direct mail & digital programs of at least $500,000. You have managed fundraising projects, to include direct/digital acquisition, retention, and reactivation strategies, particularly involving donor list segmentation
- Collaborative. You have demonstrated abilities to work successfully across multiple teams, including internal departments and external firms.
- Data & Systems Oriented. You have leveraged fundraising systems like Salesforce, email marketing tools, and digital fundraising tools like Classy.
- Flexible. You have proven success operating in a work environment with rapid change, requiring pivoting when organizational needs or priorities change, taking on unanticipated new initiatives with ease.
- Organized. You have successfully managed multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing appropriately to produce high-quality results quickly and on time. You have created clear and logical systems and processes to support your work and that of your team.
- Project Management. You have proven success systematically planning and organizing campaign activities; manage several tasks, fundraising campaigns, and timelines at once. You clearly and effectively communicate with other team members about targets and approval processes.

What You'll Do
- Contribute to our critical mission of ending suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people, while fostering an inclusive approach to your direct work and engagement with Trevor colleagues across the organization
- Continually enhance your LGBTQ competency and awareness
- Be responsible for managing all aspects of the Philanthropy Office’s integrated fundraising campaigns, to include direct mail, email appeals, advertising, search engine marketing, mobile fundraising, and social media fundraising
- Utilize direct response communication and fundraising tools (direct mail, email, website) to inform, engage, connect and solicit current, lapsed and prospective donors. Monitor, report and analyze outcomes.
- Create effective segmentation strategies that employ integrated direct/digital best practices and improve donor participation and engagement
- Leads the project management (through Asana) of integrated direct/digital fundraising campaigns to produce cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship pieces including direct mail pieces, letters, emails, web, and other media pieces
- Manage our Fundraising Agency of Record and monitor the integrated direct/digital response budgets with the Director of Community Philanthropy
