LifeWorks of Austin, TX is looking to hire a part time Community Health Educator to join our Education team! The Community Health Educator provides sexual health education services to clients via group facilitation, individual reproductive health education sessions, presentations, community collaboration, and enrichment activities. Community Health Educators may provide training, resources, and support to staff and service providers to support education and prevention efforts in the organization and community. Community Health Educators are committed to reproductive and racial equity, promote positive youth development and reproductive autonomy, and have a broad reach through evidence-based practices, multiple levels of intervention, and strong community partnerships.

This part-time, non-exempt position earns a competitive rate and benefits, including a hybrid work structure; 24 PTO days per year (accrued); 11 paid holidays per year; a premium-free employee medical plan with $100 per month HSA contribution (plus other affordable employee or family medical, dental, and vision options!); a retirement savings plan with 50% match on the first 6% of contributions, and much more!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedules and facilitates sexual health education group services through implementation of evidence-based or informed curricula and activities. Services may be facilitated virtually or in-person.
  • Communicates effectively with a range of audiences, demonstrating excellent facilitation skills and knowledge and comfort discussing topics related to sexual and reproductive health.
  • Delivers individual reproductive health education sessions (Pre-conception and Contraception Pathways to Care), referrals and support in a caring, non-judgmental, non-coercive manner, allowing client to make informed decisions.
  • Plans, develops, and provides presentations and trainings on a variety of topics, such as sexual health, disease prevention/intervention, community resources, relationship-building, and child/adolescent development.
  • Serves as a resource across the agency for medically accurate, inclusive, evidence-based sexual health information.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with staff, community contacts and other service providers.
  • Develops referral partnerships and coordinates client services with community agencies, as appropriate, including sexual and reproductive health care services.
  • Meets with individual clients, as needed, to establish a safe, healthy relationship for learning, problem-solving, and participating in community activities.
  • Prepares documentation of plans and activities to ensure compliance with contracts, and agency requirements.
  • Maintains timely, complete, and accurate data entry in Customer Relationship Management database.
  • Responsible for the primary supervision of youth engaged in services.
  • Prepares for and actively participates in supervision meetings and all other required meetings or trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health or a related field and 2+ year of related experience; or
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Preferred certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite tools, including Outlook and Word.
