The Community Education Program Coordinator, in close collaboration with the Program Manager and Director I, plans, organizes, and manages classes and activities to the public and college community in order to ensure full student enrollment. The individual in this position supports the personal enrichment program needs for youth, adults and seniors in the Southern Maryland region. This position requires extensive knowledge of integrated data systems and great attention to detail.
The College of Southern Maryland conducts background checks in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the College's staff and students. The final candidate for this position will be subject to the following background checks: Criminal History Check and Sex Offender Registry Check.

Essential Functions:
- Communicate and market CSM programs and courses.
- Participate in events in the community which support the mission of the department and the college.
- Instructor recruitment and supervision to include onboarding, scheduling and evaluation.
- Collaborates with instructors to develop new programming.
- Ensures classrooms/off site locations are appropriately equipped and set-up for upcoming classes.
- Chaperones travel trips and assists instructor in classes as needed.
- Conducts data entry of schedules and completes updates to integrated data systems to reflect accurate data.
- Creates and proofs course promotional material as appropriate.
- In cooperation with the Workforce Center, execute contract training.
- Ensures excellent customer service with students through email and phone communication.
- Participates in the annual departmental planning and budget process.
Additional Duties:
- Performs other related work as required
Bachelor’s degree in business management, event management, communications, or education required.
At least two years of experience in planning and scheduling of events, workshop or course facilitation, and/or member services management preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to adapt to fast-paced and changing environment.
- Knowledge and experience in delivering educational programs.
- Experience in the use of integrated data systems; evidence of appropriate use of technical language.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, educational technologies and other office equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexibility with schedule; some evenings and weekends are required each month.
Physical Requirements:
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
