Job description

WTJU Radio is looking for a Communications & Development Assistant to engage our audience and help knit the fabric of our community. The incumbent will oversee WTJU's social media channels, draft weekly email newsletters, help plan and carry out donor events, assist with donor research, and more.

WTJU 91.1 FM serves the Charlottesville and UVA community with an eclectic range of music programming. WTJU's media brands also include a student radio station ( WXTJ 100.1 FM ), a podcast collective ( VirginiaAudio.org ), and a classical music service ( CharlottesvilleClassical.org ). WTJU also organizes a variety of community festivals, educational programs, live music performances, and micro-museum exhibitions.

Duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Source, schedule, and manage content for WTJU's primary social media platforms, and cultivate an audience there
  • Draft weekly WTJU email newsletters
  • Assist with planning and executing WTJU stewardship and engagement events
  • As needed, create blog posts at WTJU.net related to station events
  • Assist WTJU's General Manager in identifying and developing a portfolio of mid-level and major gift prospects
  • Draft communications to solicit and steward WTJU mid-level and major donors

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: At least two years of experience. Degree in English or communications may substitute for experience.
Licensure: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
