We are looking for a Communications Assistant for the Arup Americas communications team who will work across internal and external communications.

Responsibilities include supporting and executing strategic activities related to internal and external communications, developing content for different channels and audiences, as well as impact measurement and reporting.

The position works closely with and reports to the Communications Manager overseeing the East Coast and various regional, market-facing communications.

You will:

  • Support regional communications strategy through day-to-day execution of public relations tasks and duties, including building media lists, identifying story angles, drafting emails, pitching stories to and facilitating interviews with journalists, and preparing spokespeople
  • Support development and distribution of internal campaigns and weekly newsletter, including contributing to an editorial content calendar, interviewing experts, creating and editing internal stories, and amplifying the content through internal channels both regionally and globally
  • Develop external content as needed including writing project case studies and press releases
  • Develop and distribute internal announcements using email marketing tools
  • Help plan, coordinate, research, and execute communications campaigns
  • Provide support for People/HR and EDI team communications as needed
  • Measure, monitor, report, and package communications performance tied to Key Performance Indicators
  • Draft, edit, and contribute to impact reports in various presentation formats
  • Provide daily media tracking and measurement by flagging relevant media stories
  • Track award and conference opportunities, and guide the submission process
  • Offer essential communications administrative support as needed

The Qualified Professional will have:

  • 1-2 years of relevant communications experience, including internships, preferred; some administrative experience a plus
  • In-house and (PR/marketing) agency and corporate communications background preferred and/or experience with AEC business, innovation, and impact sectors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related field
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple activities and deadlines with great attention to detail
  • A proactive attitude and an ability to work within a team environment
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills with the ability to find innovative solutions is a must
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of new tasks on a project-by-project basis
  • Experience with the following software: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and SharePoint are major assets

NYC Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York City is $60,000 to $65,000 annualized per year. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of NYC will differ.
