The Collections Specialist communicates with insurance companies, insured patients, and other team members in the dental offices to ensure payment is collected in a timely manner. This position is responsible for handling all insurance claims, primary and secondary, 31 days and older from date of services. Other duties can include posting of payment, management of fee schedules, and making adjustments to ledgers as required to arrive at an accurate reflection of patients’ ledgers.

The role and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Multi-location audits
• Bi weekly doctor pay spreadsheets
• Monthly billing statements and follow up calls on past due balances
• Running reports for unsent claims and procedures not attached to claims
• Unsent secondary claims insurance
• Outstanding Claims 30+ Days
• Overpaid report
• Negative balance report
• Post CHS payments
• Report or adjust inaccurate fee schedules
• Report incorrect credentialing issues
• Past due insurance aging
• Support of Lockbox management as needed
• Weekly follow up meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 1+ years of previous Dental Insurance Coordinator experience
• Understanding of insurance payments, adjustments and denials
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite, Google docs, Google sheets, and the ability to learn new programs
• Ability to use sound judgment, demonstrate independent thinking, and provide recommendations to manager
• Ability to collaborate and demonstrate a teamwork approach to job responsibilities
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, dependability and promptness
• Ability to perform frequent repetitive work with attention to detail
• Ability to exercise confidentiality with patients and patient care
• Ability to listen attentively for clarification to ensure accurate communication of information with dental benefits representatives and patients
