We have dedicated prototype machining and assembly divisions that routinely deliver quick-turn prototypes and pre-production quantities for our serviced industries.
We are hiring full-time CNC set-up machinist to work as part of a team responsible for setting up machines for specified jobs which includes setting-up and adjusting/offsetting Haas, Mori Seiki, CNC lathes and mills, examine complete work pieces after set-up to ensure proper run, measure complete work pieces to verify conformance to specifications. Strong machining background,knowledge of blueprints, gauging, G code, fixtures, and measuring device experience is required. Available Shifts:
- Swing 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM, Monday – Thursday with differential pay of 13%.
- Weekend 6:30 AM – 7:30 PM, Friday, Saturday & Sunday with differential pay of 11%.
Job Responsibilities
· Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
· Setup machines using correct fixture, tooling, jaws, and vices.
· Ability to write a basic movement in MDI.
· Change tools when required to resolve cutting issues such as dull tooling, deflection, tool breakage, surface finish, and any deviation of tolerance.
· Adjusts program G codes, and depths to ensure part is in conformance of tolerances.
· Rapid dial in fixtures, dowls, or locations to ensure correct coordinates, fixture placement, or flatness.
· Ability to know when to use single block, rapid movement, and current machine movements during setup to step in first tool.
· Assists operator in verifying first piece is to specification before continuing to run.
· Problem solves any mismatch in material, cutting issues, or tolerance dimensions.
· Adjusts tool height offsets, tool diameter or radius to adjust so part meets specifications.
Skills/ Education/Experience:
· Previous experience setting up 3, 4 or 5 axis machines
· Knowledge of machines, tools, and measurement instruments such as calipers, height gauge, surface finish, depth mics, groove mics, angle gauges and optical comparator.
· Understanding of Cartesian Coordinate system and movements in both horizontal and vertical machines.
· Understanding of programming code to manipulate depths, feeds, speeds, and diameters.
· Fluent in the ability to read a blueprint and understand GD&T.
· Knowledge of Quality specifications and how they apply to the part.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
