Summary:

Responsible for working with a team to estimate, plan and execute cloud software initiatives for The Corning Museum of Glass (‘Museum’) and support existing applications and projects. The Cloud Software Developer works collaboratively in the support, strategy, management, and delivery of projects from design to implementation. Supports existing cloud-based applications such as SharePoint, MS Teams, and Azure integrations. Designs cloud integrations to strengthen security and mobility of Museum applications for a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities:

Software Development

  • Designs and develops data transport and aggregation utilities to facilitate reporting and communication between applications.
  • Designs and develops data sources with MS SQL and other databases to meet Museum needs.
  • Manages SharePoint design architecture for Museum intranet Museum Matters.
  • Leverages identity, single sign on, and automation tools to simplify access and mobility.
  • Creates software components that follow industry-standard design patterns, testing standards, development methodologies, and deployment models.
  • Designs and develops according to information security best practices.
  • Establishes and maintains processes for quality assurance and security monitoring throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Learns and stays current with Microsoft Power Platform; gains understanding of Museum business processes and priorities and applies industry best practices.
  • Implements custom and third-party applications into MS Teams and SharePoint environment.
  • Provides Azure server application support and provisions cloud storage as necessary.
  • Develops processes to increase efficiency in file management and retention across Museum assets in the M365 cloud tenant.
  • Reviews third-party application needs within the MS Teams and Office 365 cloud services.
  • Maintains industry-standard source control repository of all development work.
  • Writes technical specifications and design documents for new features and applications.
  • Develops and documents technical specifications for the flow of data to and from the Museum’s integrated systems and other data sources.
  • Establishes and maintains processes for quality assurance monitoring throughout the development lifecycle.

General

  • Supports and amplifies the Museum’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
  • Works collaboratively with Museum stakeholders throughout the development process to verify requirements, set expectations, and provide status updates.
  • Assumes a team lead role for technical projects as requested.
  • Actively participates in IT team meetings and serves on Museum teams, as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Information or Computer Science or related fields of study.
  • Two (2) years of software development experience.
  • Experience working with Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, MS Teams, and Azure Cloud Services.
  • Experience with full stack development using C#, .Net, NodeJS, and Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JavaScript frameworks (Vue, React).
  • Proficiency with MS SQL database at intermediate level.
  • Experience in managing and developing applications in SharePoint Online desired.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau desired.
  • Experience in manual and automated testing methods.
  • Experience working with containers and container orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes desired.
  • Fluency in source control systems, such as Git desired.
  • Experience working within an agile development environment and with agile development methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, data analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to gather requirements, design, and implement workflows and schemas.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies and sharing information with colleagues.
  • Ability to work with staff of varying skill levels and technical proficiencies and effectively communicate complex concepts, excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Meets deadlines and handles multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; draws meaningful conclusions and recommendations based on qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Occasional after hours work to accompany project upgrades.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $66,000.00 per year
