The Opportunity: Clinical Nurse Manager, Ambulatory (Salem, NH)

Why This Role Is Important

The clinical nurse manager is accountable for facilitating excellence in patient care delivery, providing operating efficiencies and insuring compliance with ambulatory, state and regulatory policies and best clinical practices for a variety of our multispecialty practices, including but not limited to Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology/Optometry, PT/OT, GI, Pain, and several surgical specialty programs. The clinical nurse manager serves as a resource and first point of contact for the clinical staff (MAs, RNs, LPNs) to support operations, guidance and competency in performing their assigned roles. The incumbent will also be a resource to clinicians related to their clinical flow and compliance to ensure operational needs are met. Importantly, the clinical nurse manager is accountable to help foster and develop a climate which motivates staff across the various ambulatory practices in Salem, NH.

Patient Care Management

  • Responsible for excellence in patient focused care delivery including implementing and evaluating approved policies and procedures necessary for the delivery of such care; evaluating customer (provider, staff and patient) satisfaction and recommending and integrating changes as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with physicians, administration, nurses and other health care professionals and support personnel to determine and evaluate the delivery of outpatient care; address and solve practice care issues.
  • Responsible for expertise in clinical ambulatory care and preserving the integrity of the provider/staff/patient relationship across a variety of specialty practices

Personnel Management

  • Interviews, participates in hiring, precepts and evaluates all nursing support staff including RNs, LPNs and medical assistants for the ambulatory practices.
  • Works with the Sr. Practice Manager and Human Resource department on job postings for recruitment of nursing staff
  • Manages and provides direction to nursing support staff (nurses, medical assistants)
  • Promotes the development of self-managed teams engaging staff in the decision-making process as needed.
  • Oversees development and implementation of quality assurance projects.
  • Delegates responsibility and authority to appropriate staff and develops systems for effective follow-up and provides opportunities for staff to participate in decisions.
  • Plans, directs, and participates in regularly scheduled meetings to share information and problem solve with ambulatory personnel.
  • In conjunction with the Sr. Practice Manager, implements corrective action according to hospital policy as needed.
  • Collaborates with service and other educational resources to facilitate learning experiences for staff

Administration/Business

  • Promotes, develops, and evaluates various processes and systems along with identifying, communicating, and resolving systems issues.
  • Proactively seeks and acts upon patient, families and staff feedback and initiates appropriate action.
  • Maintains the highest quality of work while continually measuring outcomes to ensure the most effective and efficient processes.
  • Ensures effective management of resources as well as overseeing the management of clinical inventory levels and supplies for all ambulatory practices.
  • Prepare weekly schedule for nursing staff to include both clinical and patient phone triaging coverage.
  • Assist Lead MA as necessary with weekly medical assistant and clinical support coverage
  • Orders equipment as needed for patient care and, in conjunction with the Lead MA to ensure a safe and secure storage unit for medical supplies
  • Responsible for overseeing all vaccine and medication management and administration including but not limited to, refrigerator temp logging, expiry logs, state and private vaccine management, etc.

Collaboration Operations Management

  • Maintains a safe environment for patient/staff while executing daily operational activities necessary for effective dermatology practice functioning.
  • Coordinates documentation of policies and procedure with the MGBIC Training Team, and responsible for ensuring staff are competent in the work required, including attention to infection control, medication management, clinical workflows, and new employee on-boarding.
  • Directs day-to-day activities of all nursing, LPN, and MA staff.
  • Participates in planning current and long-term projects to improve the operations across all ambulatory practices

  • Offers assistance that supports the team and ensures that patient needs are not compromised

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing degree program required

License:

  • Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Hampshire required
  • BLS Certification required within 6 months of hire

Experience:

  • At least 2-3 years of management experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Supervisory Responsibility

  • In conjunction with the Sr. Practice Manager, provides supervision and direction to a growing practice of nursing/clinical staff, currently approximately 25-30 FTEs
