Position Summary:
The Clinical Informaticist supports physicians, clinicians and partners by providing continuous support and identifying opportunities for clinical system improvements. The Clinical Informaticist promotes present system functionality through participation in the planning, selection, design, development, and evaluation of computerization for clinical care. The Clinical Informaticist serves as a Clinical Information resource for the integration of data, information and knowledge to support projects impacting patient care, patient outcomes, patient safety and end user workflow.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Training, Healthcare or related field or Experience in Lieu of Education - Inpatient clinical healthcare experience, nursing, clinical education
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
3-5 years of experience in/with knowledge of computerization process in the clinical setting
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with clinical leaders, clinical staff and providers in planning, prioritizing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating computerization for clinical end users ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Assesses computerization needs for clinicians and providers.
- Provides information and resources relating to computerization and technology in response to end user requests
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal use of technology in patient care.
- Assists with implementation and evaluation of electronic documentation, templates, orders, and plan of care, protocols and the workflow around the use of information systems.
- Participates as an active member in assigned User Group calls.
- Acts as liaison between clinicians, providers and information technology.
- Assists in the development and implementation of new tools/processes as necessary for patient safety, regulatory requirements and optimal patient outcomes.
- Participates in projects. Assists in and implements assigned projects efficiently and effectively.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage projects and tasks within the project timelines; Works independently to achieve defined outcomes
- Ensures work is accurate and well presented.
- Maintains a collaborative relationship with team, clinicians and providers, other departments and vendors.
- Conducts audits/runs reports as requested.
- Provides technology services and support to clinicians and providers.
- Acts as an advocate for clinical information systems and workflows; assists in the adoption and improved use of systems and assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of system usage.
- Assists clinicians and providers in acquiring technology knowledge and skills.
- Participates in providing education of the electronic medical record to new employees and providers.
- Facilitates communication and education with provider offices on the electronic medical records system.
- Participates in the computerization orientation program for new employees and providers.
- Facilitates education/in-services related to implementation of changes in clinical information system applications.
- Acts as a resource person and consultant for other departments relating to computerization processes.
- Conducts audits of the documentation system to ensure standards are being met to make this clearer stays readily available in-patient care areas for clinicians and providers.
- Makes routine rounds on end users assists peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members to improve care throughout the technology.
- Maintains excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Utilizes effective training techniques that allow the end user to continually increase their competency in using information systems.
- Presents lectures and educational activities using different technology tools serves as a role model for bridging the functions of clinical care and information technology.
- Maintains current knowledge and understanding of clinician provider workflow and process, clinical care/best practices and regulatory requirements for the optimization of the use of information systems to improve patient outcomes.
- Ensures that clinical information systems are in compliance with JCAHO, CMS and other regulatory standards.
- Maintains knowledgeable about the care of patients, medical center operations and clinical informatics.
- Participates in change management targeted to improve patient outcomes.
- Draws on clinical experience and informatics knowledge to maximize the utility of computer systems.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the end-user environment and systems and proactively seeks methods of improvement.
- Ensures application solutions are consistent with departmental policies and guidelines.
- Identifies policy changes associated with implementing new or updated documentation practices.
- Monitors new developments in technology to determine their applicability to improve the delivered product and workflows.
- Maintains proficiency in all clinical applications.
